Liverpool are already making plans for Aston Villa transfer

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a bid for Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer who could be a replacement for Joe Gomez, who is understood to be a top target for Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa this summer.

Italian news outlet TuttoMercato are reporting that Bremer will be targeted by Jurgen Klopp's side this summer, after a possible deal in January was explored. The news arrives after the man he could be replacing, Gomez, was labelled a 'top target' for Villa ahead of the summer transfer window, as Gerrard looks to put his stamp on the squad in his first pre-season in charge.

Gomez's first team opportunities look limited at Anfield for the foreseeable future, despite recently featuring in Liverpool's 2-0 win against Watford in the Premier League. Gomez replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back in this fixture due to injury and also showcased his versatility as a player at the highest level, after assisting Diogo Jota to give his side the lead.

The 24-year-old is expected to leave Liverpool this summer in search of regular game time, which Gerrard could offer him in claret and blue as he looks to address a leaky defence which recently conceded four goals in the bizarre performance against Tottenham Hotspur, which saw Villa dominate Antonio Conte's side for the majority of the first half.
