Steven Gerrard comments seen as 'green light' for Aston Villa transfer
Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz could move on come the summer.
Douglas enters the final year of his contract when the season ends and that means his value to Villa will take a sharp drop. The Brazilian international has had an inconsistent season and has had to fill in for Marvelous Nakamba at the base of Steven Gerrard 's midfield since December.
Douglas is used to playing next to a traditional midfield anchor and he was dropped entirely for the 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. A superb season last campaign prompted fears that Manchester City may look to re-sign him after originally allowing him to leave in 2019, but that turned out not to be the case.
