"Just go after both" - Insider drops intriguing Aston Villa transfer claim involving £110m duo

Aston Villa could pursue deals for both Yves Bissouma and Kalvin Phillips this summer before deciding which player to go for, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Midlands outfit are thought to be keen on the two midfielders as manager Steven Gerrard aims to bolster his engine room options ahead of next season.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arsenal ‘have an interest’ in Villa’s first-choice holding midfielder Douglas Luiz, who has entered the final 15 months of his current contract.

As a result, Gerrard’s charges have been linked to several potential replacements, and the 41-year-old tactician admitted that Brighton and Hove Albion ‘turned away’ an offer for Bissouma during the January transfer window.

A report in The Athletic claimed that the Mali international had a £50 million price tag in the winter, although that may be reduced when the market reopens as his existing deal is set to expire in 2023.
