Liverpool’s quest for what would be an unprecedented quadruple took a significant hit this week. While it may have been the stuff of a pipedream at the start of the season, it’s something that has become a very real possibility as the campaign draws to a close.
Then came Tottenham Hotspur at home on Saturday night. Arguably the toughest of Liverpool’s remaining league fixtures, but nevertheless one in which you’d have expected the Reds to get the job done.
However, Son Heung-Min’s tap-in at the Anfield Road end saw Liverpool leave the stadium with just a single point to their name. That, coupled with Manchester City’s routine 5-0 victory over Newcastle United, means a three-point gap remains with three fixtures left to play.
