Live updates as serious crash closes Merthyr Tydfil road

A stretch of a busy road has been closed following what police have described as a "serious" crash. Motorists have been asked to avoid the area and expect delays following the closure of Brecon Road in Merthyr Tydfil.

South Wales Police shared a Facebook post at 6.32am on Saturday, March 8 reads: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on Brecon Road in Merthyr Tydfil. The road is currently closed in both directions between Nant Street and Vulcan Road.

"It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area."
