M62 crash LIVE updates as two lanes shut and drivers face long delays
Drivers are facing long delays following a crash on the M62 near Rochdale.
Two lanes of traffic have been closed on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 19 at Heywood and Middleton, and 20 for the A627M.
Queues are tailing back for three miles and are taking around half an hour to clear, according to National Highways.
In a post on X, a spokesperson for National Highways North West wrote: "Lanes 3 and 4 are CLOSED on the #M62 eastbound between J19 #Heywood and J20 #A627M due to a collision.
"National Highways Traffic Officers are en-route to scene.
"There are currently delays of 30 mins and approx. 3 miles of congestion."
An update on the Inrix traffic monitoring system added: "Long delays and two lanes closed due to accident on M62 Eastbound from J19 A6046 Middleton Road (Heywood) to J20 A627(M) J3 Rochdale.
"Congestion to J18 (Simister Island). Lanes three and four (of four) are now closed."
Further details about the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.
