Live updates as 'serious crash' closes A474 in both directions between Pontardawe and Cwmgors

The A474 is closed in both directions due to a "serious" crash between Pontardawe and Cwmgors. The closure, between Rhyd-Y-Fro and Cwmgors, is causing queueing traffic and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

The incident was was first logged on traffic reporting service Inrix at 7.14am on Friday, October 13, which says: "A474 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from Pontardawe to Cwmgors. Affecting traffic between Pontardawe and Garnant."

A police statement said the crash was a "serious collision" and the road would remain closed for some time, with delays expected in the area. The statement added: "Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible."
