LIVE updates as motorists hit by 'severe delays' on M60 motorway

Motorists are being hit by long delays on the M60 motorway on Wednesday morning.

The AA has warned of 'severe delays' in and around a stretch of the motorway near Stockport.

They reported queuing traffic on a clockwise stretch between junction 24, for Denton Island, and junction 1, at Stockport Pyramid.

The AA said on its website: "Severe delays of eleven minutes on M60 clockwise between J24 A57 (Denton Island) and J1 A5145 Travis Brow (Stockport Pyramid). Average speed ten mph."

The traffic monitoring service, Inrix, also reported the issue.

They said: "M60 clockwise partially blocked, queueing traffic due to accident from J27 A6188 Tiviot Way (Portwood Roundabout) to J1 A5145 Travis Brow (Stockport Pyramid)."

No other details have been released.
