Live updates as M4 sees heavy traffic due to oil spillage near Cardiff during Christmas getaway

One lane of the M4 is shut after an oil spillage, causing long traffic tailbacks as motorists make their journeys home on the final Friday before Christmas.

The closure is in place on the westbound side of the motorway at junction 33. According to traffic monitoring service Inrix: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to fuel spillage on M4 Westbound at J33 A4232 (Cardiff West And Services). Congestion to the Northbound A4232 approaching the roundabout.”
