Live updates as M4 shut in Cardiff after early-morning crash
A busy stretch of the M4 in Cardiff is currently closed following an early-morning crash. The M4 eastbound exit slip road is closed due to an accident at junction 30 Cardiff Gate.
According to traffic monitoring system Inrix the road has been closed since around 3.30am. A statement from South Wales Police described the incident as a "serious collision" and added that the road would be closed for some time.
The closure impacts traffic coming off at Junction 30 eastboung as well as the A4232 between the roundabout for Asda and Junction 30, Cardiff Gate. Police are urging motorists to avoid the area and use an alternative route where possible.
Traffic cameras show a build up of traffic in the area by 6am, with more delays expected as we head into the busy rush-hour traffic period.
