Live updates as M4 drivers warned of 'poor driving' conditions

An M4 accident caused early morning delays on Thursday morning as heavy rain batters the region . The eastbound carriageway was partially blocked at junction 34 Miskin in the Vale of Glamorgan and traffic cameras at 6.20am showed heavy traffic in the area.

The vehicles involved were moved quickly, but there is a warning of poor driving conditions

There is a Met Office weather warning in place until 8am on Thursday. It says: "Spells of heavy rain are expected this evening and overnight. In some places, most likely over northern and eastern parts of the warning area, there is a chance that rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms and frequent lightning. 20 to 40 mm of rain is expected to fall quite widely with 50 mm possible in a few places. In some places much of this rain may fall over a two or three hour period."

The Met Office weather for Wales says that the heavy, thundery rain through the morning, will ease for a time, but with further outbreaks arriving through the afternoon.
