Live updates after serious crash completely blocks major Swansea Valley route near Pontardawe
A serious crash has closed a major Welsh route in both directions tonight. South Wales Police are at the scene of the incident and say the stretch is likely to be shut for some time.
The incident is understood to be on the A4067 - the main road between Pontardawe and Glais, and drivers are being advised to avoid the area.
A social media post from South Wales Police said: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on Derwen Road, Pontardawe. The road is currently closed in both directions between Pontardwe roundabout and Glais. It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area." It is thought that the crash is actually on the A4067 - Derwen Road is a minor road which runs parallel to it for a short stretch, but South Wales Police have been asked for clarification.
