LIVE: Thunder and heavy rain hits Greater Manchester as sunny spell comes to abrupt end
The glorious summer weather of recent days has come to an abrupt end across Greater Manchester.
There were reports of heavy rain, thunder and lightning strikes across the region.
Temperatures of almost 26C were recorded yesterday on Saturday (May 11), making it the warmest day we've enjoyed up until now.
But forecasters had predicted thunderstorms and heavy rain could be on the way with three weather warnings set in place.
Yellow warnings for thunderstorms cover large parts of the UK, including Greater Manchester, from Sunday morning onwards and will last until 11pm.
The weather service said the warning could leave spray and sudden flooding leading to difficult driving conditions. This could also affect trains and buses while power cuts may take place.
The Met Office said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to some disruption in places, especially to travel. Isolated property flooding is possible."
