LIVE: Police tape off stretch of A6 after early hours crash - latest updates

A stretch of the A6 in Stockport is closed off this morning after a crash in the early hours.

Buxton Road is currently shut near the junction with Woodsmoor Lane in Heavily. It is closed both ways, according to Transport for Greater Manchester.

Police are on the scene. A diversion route has been put in place, with some bus services also on the diversion.

A tweet posted by TfGM at around 5.45am this morning said: "A6 Buxton Rd, Stockport (Woodsmoor Ln/Bramhall Ln) is closed both ways due to a RTC. Diversion Routes: Nangreave Rd/Dialstone Ln. @StagecoachGM

"192 bus services are also on above diversion, allow extra time for your journey."
