LIVE: Police cordon off stretch of main road after crash - updates

Police have cordoned off a stretch of a main road in Trafford this morning after a crash.

Part of Carrington Lane in Carrington is currently closed off. Police officers are on the scene following the incident just before 9.15am.

Cameras show vehicles being diverted away from the cordon on the main road. Emergency services say a van and a car were involved.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "At just before 9.15am today (Wednesday, March 20) two fire engines from Stretford and Sale fire stations alongside the technical response unit from Ashton fire station were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a van on Carrington Lane, Carrington.

"Firefighters used specialist equipment to remove one man from the van before handing them to the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service. Crews helped to make the scene safe and were in attendance for around 35 minutes."

A spokesperson for GMP confirmed officers have been called to a crash. No arrests have been made and no-one has suffered any life-threatening injuries.
