LIVE: Police cordon in place with road closed after 'serious crash' - latest updates

A police cordon is in place on a road in Bury this morning after a 'serious crash'.

A stretch of Ainsworth Road is currently closed. The closure is in place both ways between Haig Road and Stephen Street.

Pictures show police officers on the scene. It has not yet been confirmed whether anyone is injured.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for details.

A tweet posted by MancTraffic said: "Ainsworth Rd, Bury CLOSED from Haig Rd to Glenboro Ave. Queues both ways and also affecting the A58 Bolton Rd e/b where there are queues from Starling Rd to Glenboro Ave with diverting traffic and roadworks closing a lane."
