LIVE: Police cordon in place on road after man hit by car - latest updates

Police have cordoned off a road in Salford this morning after a man was hit by a car.

The crash happened on Canal Bank in the Monton area at around 7am today (Friday). The man was taken to hospital after being struck, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.

The driver remained on the scene. Canal Bank remains closed off in both directions.

The road is shut between Parrin Lane and Mitchell Street. Police officers remain on the scene.

A GMP spokesperson said a man had been hit by a car on Canal Bank.

He was taken to hospital by an ambulance.

The driver remained on the scene.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, Canal Bank is closed both ways.

The closure is in place between Parrin Lane and Mitchell Street.
