LIVE: Motorway rush-hour traffic chaos with delays on M62, M6 and M56 - latest updates

Drivers are facing queues on some of Greater Manchester's motorways through rush-hour this morning.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, there are problems on the M62, M56 and M6. On the M62 westbound, one lane is shut between junction 12 for the Eccles Interchange and junction 11 for Birchwood.

This is due to a broken-down vehicle. Traffic is slow in the area.

One lane is also shut on the M56 westbound from junction six for Wilmslow Road to junction seven for Bowdon. This is due to another broken down vehicle.

On the M6 Thelwall Viaduct, the northbound side is 'partially blocked' after a crash between junction 20 for the Lymm Interchange to junction 21 for Woolston. Traffic is queuing up to this closure.

All lanes have been reopened on the M62 westbound between J12 and J11.

Traffic remains slow in the area but is expected to ease soon.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, here are the current issues on our motorways:

M56 - GREATER MANCHESTER - WESTBOUND - One lane closed due to broken down vehicle on M56 Westbound from J6 A538 Wilmslow Road (Hale Four Seasons Roundabout) to J7 A556 Chester Road (Bowdon). Traffic is coping well.

M62 - GREATER MANCHESTER - WESTBOUND - Slow traffic due to earlier broken down vehicle on M62 Westbound from J12 M60 J12 (Eccles Interchange) to J11 A574 Birchwood Way (Birchwood). All lanes have been re-opened.

The M6 Thelwall Viaduct between J20 and J21 is now clear.
