Commuters are facing delays on the M6 tonight following a car fire.

All traffic is currently being held on the M6 Northbound at J22 A49 Winwick Link Road (Newton Le Willows), with congestion building on the approach. Emergency services are understood to be working at the scene, with cars being diverted.

National Highways say drivers are facing one mile of congestion as traffic is temporarily held in the area.
