Manchester United must generate £105m for Harry Kane alternative and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have chosen Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos as an alternative option to Harry Kane should they fail to sign the England captain, according to reports.

With the market set to reopen, United have made Kane their prime target in the search for a new striker and he only has 15 months left to run on his Tottenham contract. However, there are question marks over whether or not the North Londoners would even do business with another Premier League club.

German heavyweights Bayern Munich are also reported to be in the chase for his signature. Despite him being in the last months of his contract, a fee of around £100million has been mooted.

Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen is also being tracked by United in case they are unable to sign Kane as their long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo after he departed mid-season. Reports from Record via Goal say Ramos is being considered furthermore.

It has been a breakthrough season for the Benfica forward, who also drew attention for scoring a hat-trick at the World Cup this winter. Ramos, 21, has totted-up 24 goals and ten assists from 36 games in all competitions for the Portuguese side.

Under contract until 2026, as things stand, Ramos is thought to have a release clause in his agreement worth €120million. That converts to around £105.5million in the current financial market.

Elsewhere, reports in Spain suggest United could revive their interest in Lyon striker Moussa Dembele this summer. He has long-since been linked with a move to Old Trafford and is coming towards the end of his agreement with the French side.
