LIVE: Major road next to M62 closed after 'serious crash' - traffic updates
A major road has been closed off next to the M62 near Greater Manchester following a 'serious crash' overnight. Emergency services were called out to the A672 Oldham Road following a collision near Rishworth, West Yorkshire, earlier this morning (February 4).
The road is currently closed between the Turnpike, next to Booth Wood Reservoir, and junction 22 of the M62 near Saddleworth. It's not yet known how long the closure will be in place.
Commuters to Greater Manchester are among those being affected. A post from Calderdale Council on X said: "A672 Oldham Road is closed both ways between Junction 22 on the M62 to the Turnpike Inn until further notice."
A Calderdale Community Protection Team spokesperson posted on X at 3.43am: "ATTENTION. Due to an RTC the A672 Oldham Road will be closed in both directions for several hours.
"Closures are in place from the Turnpike and junction 22. Please find alternative routes and allow more time to travel." Further details about the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.

The closure follows a serious crash earlier this morning, according to Inrix.
An update says:
"A672 Oldham Road in both directions closed due to serious accident between M62 J22 (Rishworth Moor) and Rishworth New Road.
"Ongoing since the early hours of the morning."
