LIVE M60 traffic as crash forces motorway to shut lanes at notorious junction

Two lanes have been closed on the M60 following a crash near Prestwich.

Queues are building on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 17 and 18, at Simister Island, following a collision this afternoon (March 5).

An update from the Inrix traffic monitoring service says there is slow traffic in the area.

It says: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M60 clockwise from J17 A56 Bury New Road (Prestwich/Whitefield) to J18 M66 J4 (Simister Island). Lanes three and four (of four)."

Google data shows traffic tailing back past the Kearsley interchange for the M61.
