LIVE: M60 CLOSED in both directions due to 'police incident' - latest updates

Part of the M60 has been closed in both directions due to a 'police incident'.

The motorway is shut anticlockwise between junctions 12 at the Eccles Interchange and 10 at the Trafford Centre.

It is also closed clockwise between junctions 10 and 11, at Eccles.

Emergency services are in attendance at the scene and a diversion is in place.

A National Highways North West spokesperson posted on X: "The #M60 anti-clockwise is closed between J12 #M602 and J10 #TraffordPark for a @gmpolice incident. Diversion via 'Hollow Circle'."

A further post shortly before 9am added: "The #M60 anti-clockwise remains closed between J12 #M602 & J10 #TraffordPark for an ongoing @gmpolice incident.

"Clockwise carriageway is also now closed between J10 & J11 #Eccles. Motorists are advised to use the A576 and A5081 to get between Eccles, at junction three of the M602, and the Trafford Centre instead."

Traffic cameras show firefighters among the emergency services in response at the scene.

A National Highways spokesperson added: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.

"Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
