LIVE: M60 blocked with all traffic held due to ongoing police incident - latest updates
The M60 has been blocked following an ongoing police incident. Drivers are being temporarily held near Junction 20 of the motorway between Higher Blackley and Hollinwood.
According to traffic monitoring tool, Inrix, there is congestion building as cars move slowly in a clockwise direction with traffic stretching to junction 21 of the M6.

Inrix says: "M60 anticlockwise blocked, queueing traffic due to accident and surface water at J20 A664 Manchester New Road (Higher Blackley). Congestion to M6 J21 (Hollinwood)."

According to traffic monitoring tool, Inrix, vehicles at the rear of the queue are being released.
The system says: "Sources confirm that trapped traffic within the closure is being released from the rear of the queue."
The National Highways has provided drivers with instructions of a diversion route for those stuck in the heavy traffic.
Road users are advised to follow the Solid Square symbol on road signs.
Bus operator Stagecoach, has warned of delays of approximately 30-40 minutes due to congestion.
