LIVE: M60 and M62 delays and queues as lanes closed after 'vehicle overturns' - latest updates

Delays are building on a stretch of the M62 this morning with lanes shut due to an 'overturned vehicle'.

Two lanes are currently closed on the eastbound carriageway. The lanes are shut between junction 18 for Simister Island to junction 19 for Heywood.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, lanes three and four of four lanes are shut.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:

"At just before 10.30am today (Tuesday February 20) three fire engines from Whitefield, Agecroft, and Chadderton fire stations attended a crash involving one van which had overturned on the M62 between junctions 18 and 19.

"Crews made the scene safe and were in attendance for around 25 minutes."

All lanes have now been reopened on the M62 eastbound.

A 30-minute delay remains.

Two lanes have been reopened.

Traffic is queuing for around six miles up to the incident.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, congestion is back to junction 14 for the M60 Swinton Interchange.

Three lanes remain closed on the M62 eastbound.

The lanes are shut between J18 for Simister Island and junction 19 for Heywood.

There are long queues up to the closure on the eastbound side.
