LIVE: Huge emergency services response at beauty spot amid reports of person in the water - updates

A huge emergency services response is in attendance at a beauty spot amid reports of a person in the water. It has since been confirmed that a person was rescued at the embankment of the River Tame.

Police, fire crews and paramedics are still currently at the scene in Reddish Vale Country Park. One resident said they had 'never seen so many of the emergency services' racing to the incident on a local social media group.

Crews were called out to the River Tame, near the entrance beside Willow Avenue. Two people were later located by crews beside the river.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for further details on the incident.

In an updated statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At shortly after 8pm today (Wednesday 10 April) fire crews were called to Reddish Vale, in Stockport following reports of a person in the water.

“Working alongside Greater Manchester Police, two fire engines from Whitehill and Gorton fire stations along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton and the Water Incident Unit from Eccles quickly attended the scene.

“Crews worked to assist two people located by the river, one who was rescued from an embankment. Both received a precautionary check from North West Ambulance Service.

“Crews remain at the scene”.
