M62 delays as emergency services descend following crash

Motorists were warned to expect long delays approaching Manchester on part of the M62 this evening. Emergency services were at the scene following a crash near junction 12, at the Eccles interchange.

It was affecting traffic approaching Greater Manchester on the eastbound carriageway, from Warrington and the M6. Google data showed queues tailing back to junction 11 at Birchwood.

The exit slip road at junction 12 was partially blocked following the crash, according to Inrix. Traffic was queueing due to recovery work.

Both lanes of the exit slip road were blocked, Inrix says. Traffic can still take the exit, onto the M60.

An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News that three police cars and an ambulance are in attendance, along with highways officers. The road has since fully reopened.

Police and paramedics are at the scene at junction 12, for the Eccles interchange.

It follows a crash which has left the exit slip road for the M60 blocked.

Both lanes have been blocked, according to Inrix.

Traffic is still able to use the exit slip road, however.

Further details about the nature of the crash are yet to be confirmed.
