LIVE: Huge delays on busy Manchester road as car OVERTURNS near Asda - latest updates

A car has overturned on one of the major routes into Manchester city centre this afternoon. A white car can be seen on its roof on the northbound stretch of Princess Road, near the Asda store in Hulme.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed they were called following the crash at 11:40am and that a man has been taken to hospital.

The incident is said to be causing long queues to form on the road, which is the major arterial route between the city centre and south Manchester.

Stagecoach has warned that bus services are being diverted as a result.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have just issued a statement in which they confirm a man has been taken to hospital following the crash.

A spokesperson the force said:

At approximately 11:40am on Sunday 3 December 2023, officers were called to reports of a collision where a car was found overturned on Princess Road in Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended and a man has been taken to hospital.

There is also damage to the barriers between the road and the pavement

There are currently long queues on Princess Road heading towards the city centre. It is a busy day shopping day in the city centre, and there are also a number of events including the Christmas Parade starting shortly and Manchester City taking on Tottenham at the Etihad at 4:30pm.
