Attempted murder investigation after man opened fire in busy Manchester street

Greater Manchester Police have launched an attempted murder investigation after a group of men were shot at in a targetted attack in Ardwick. The force is continuing to appeal for information following the firearms discharge on the A6 Stockport Road.

The terrifying incident happened at around 3pm on Thursday (December 21) when it is believed that a male got out of a dark-coloured Mercedes, before firing several shots towards a group of men close to the Apollo Theatre. No injuries were reported at the scene, but a car was hit during the incident.

One man, aged 23, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody for questioning.
