LIVE: Police tape off Manchester park after 'serious sex attack' - updates

Officers have closed off part of a popular Manchester park as police investigate a 'serious sexual assault'.

Police are in attendance at Platt Fields Park, in Fallowfield, this morning (June 12).

Greater Manchester Police has closed off entrances to the park on Platt Lane.

The force says it is investigate an attack on a woman by 'two unknown men'.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a serious sexual assault at Platt Fields Park last night (Wednesday, June 11 2025).

"A female victim was seriously sexually assaulted by two unknown men. No arrests have been made yet.

"A scene remains in place at the park whilst officers conduct their enquiries."

A number of officers are currently in attendance manning a cordon.

A witness told the Manchester Evening News: "Police closed entrances off with police tape to Platt Fields by the church on Platt Lane."

GMP vehicles have also been parked up at the scene.

A section of the park has been taped off, with much of the grounds still accessible to the public.
