LIVE: Fire crews rush to huge moorland blaze on Winter Hill - latest updates

Fire crews have descended on a moorland near Bolton after a huge blaze broke out.

Plumes of smoke can be seen rising from Winter Hill near Dean Mills Reservoir at around 3:30pm on Saturday (May 3). The full extent of the fire is not yet clear.

It comes after a huge blaze on Rishworth moor near Ripponden on Thursday, which crews are still attending to. Hot weather over recent days and lack of rainfall has made moorland extremely dry, which increases the risk of fires.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for more information.
