LIVE: Fire crews at scene of fire off Oxford Road - latest updates
Firefighters are responding to an incident at an apartment block off Oxford Road.
Several fire engines have been spotted at the scene in Chester Street this afternoon.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a fire break out at a fire on the street, opposite the Manchester Metropolitan University campus.
Pictures shared on social media show clouds of thick black smoke billowing from a building in the area.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for comment.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) has issued the following statement on the incident:
At 11.59am on Monday 20 June, firefighters attended a fire at a restaurant on Chester Street, Manchester.
Five fire engines from Manchester Central Fire Station attended the scene where a fire had broken out in a kitchen at a restaurant.
Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two ventilation units in extinguishing the fire. One casualty is being treated after suffering burns to their hands.
I'm being told the fire started in the kitchen of one of the restaurants with smoke sent up an extractor fan out the top of the building - work still going on inside the restaurants and building @MENnewsdesk
Fire is in the 'Quadrangle' building, looks like people have been allowed to stay in their flats and businesses outside the cordon still operating - Nando's, Lameizi, Casa Mexican are not @MENnewsdesk
