LIVE: Deansgate in city centre closed off due to 'police incident' - live updates

A section of a major city centre road has been closed off this morning (May 3) due to a 'police incident'.

Deansgate, in Manchester City Centre, has been closed off between Quay Street and St John Street. This is due to an 'ongoing police incident'.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) posted at 5.40am this morning to notify people of the closure. People travelling into the city centre are being advised to plan a different route.

In the post, TfGM said: "Deansgate, City Centre is closed between St Johns St and Quay Street. This is due to an ongoing police incident.

"If you're heading into the city this morning, please plan your journey."

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been approached for more information.
