LIVE: Air ambulance lands in Stockport amid serious incident - latest updates

There's been a huge emergency services response following a crash in Stockport.

Witnesses report seeing at least eight police cars, ambulances and fire engines after the smash on Stockport Road Marple. An air ambulance was also pictured having landed in nearby Marple Park.

Romiley and Marple Community First Responders posted on Facebook: "Please avoid Stockport Rd Marple whilst emergency services deal with an incident near the Shell petrol station."

Stockport Road is currently closed to both traffic and pedestrians, a witness said.

Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue have been contacted for a comment.

Stockport Road in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to accident from Hibbert Lane to A626 Station Road.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said three fire engines from Ashton, Offerton and Stockport were sent to the scene in response to reports of a crash involving one car.

Stagecoach is advising passengers bus services will be divrted while Stockport Road remains closed.
