Limassol plunged into Rangers clash crisis as raging boss tells flops 'my 2 year old could defend better'

Aris Limassol are on the ropes ahead of their clash with Rangers with boss Aleksey Shpilevsky telling his stars his TWO-YEAR-OLD could have defended better than them at the weekend.

Limassol lead the way in the Cypriot League but they tripped up against Omonia Nicosia on Monday, conceding in stoppage time to draw 2-2 away from home. It wasn't the ideal ramp-up to a big week for them which sees them host Apollon in a derby this weekend before they welcome Michael Beale's team for a big Europa League showdown.

Willy Semedo's opening goal was a particular source of frustration for Shpilevsky who didn't hold back when assessing his team's performance. And the Belarussian, who has been left with doubts over two players for next week's game, also slaughtered his troops for failing to take their chances.

He said: "If you see their first goal, my two-year-old son would have been able to handle the situation more intelligently. There is an unwritten rule in football that if you don't take your chances you will concede goals. I'm very upset that we didn't win.

"Even if you drop your effort by as little as ten per cent, then you haven't done enough. Perhaps it's good we make these mistakes so we learn where to improve. We now have a derby against Apollon at the weekend and then Rangers and we have to be fully focused to win both games. Additionally, two players suffered injuries - Franz Brorsson and Steeve Yago, so we need to assess them ahead of future matches."
