Philippe Clement has told Rangers fans he is a 'football animal' and that trophies are on the agenda under his tenure at Ibrox.

The 49-year-old has swept into Ibrox and is hell-bent on leaning on a track record which secured three consecutive league titles as bosses of both Genk and Brugge. And the Belgian is full of belief his vision can bring success to Ibrox. Clement saw off heavy competition for the hot-seat after Michael Beale was given the axe following a poor run of form. Rangers looked to multiple candidates but found the Belgian the best man to revive their Scottish Premiership campaign in a bid to catch rivals Celtic.

He replaces Beale as the Ibrox club's 19th permanent manager and will get straight to work on Monday morning to meet a squad in need of a shot in the arm. Hibs await in the capital at the weekend, but Clement believes in what he can offer, he told RangersTV: "I'm very proud to be here, I'm very happy. We had some really good talks with a lot people in the club in this last week, people from the board, investors, also with some old players. I had a talk with Thomas Buffel, for example. I'm really to be here.
