Life ban for Sittingbourne Football Club supporter accused of racial abuse during Isthmian South East game against AFC Whyteleafe

Sittingbourne have issued a life ban to a supporter accused of racial abuse.

The Brickies have acted quickly following an incident during the second half of their Isthmian South East home game against AFC Whyteleafe on Saturday.

In a statement, Leafe said a Sittingbourne fan “walked past our supporters and made a number of racist comments about our players”.

They said he became “aggressive” when confronted about his comments and that Sittingbourne’s stewards and officials were “horrified and promised action” when the incident was reported.

The supporter was removed from the ground and has been banned for life.

“Sittingbourne FC have been made aware of a racial incident that occurred at [Saturday’s] fixture,” said the Brickies in a club statement.

“This matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness.

“The individual in question was removed instantly by the club and has been banned for life.

“A photograph was taken and will be passed on to the relevant authorities.

“We do not tolerate racism at our club. Having experienced such incidents ourselves this season, we fully understand the impact and severity of these situations.

“We will work closely with the FA and AFC Whyteleafe on this matter, and await the referee’s report. At this time, we will be making no further comment.

“There is no place in football or our club for racism.”

AFC Whyteleafe won the top-five clash 4-1 to move nine points clear of Sittingbourne in the league table.
