Liam Kelly in shock Rangers transfer return as Motherwell keeper 'agrees' to join Ibrox summer rebuild

Motherwell keeper Liam Kelly is set for a shock Rangers return.

The 28-year-old Scotland squad shot-stopper came through the youth ranks at Ibrox and spent three years as part of the first team squad before he joined Livingston in 2018 and then moved to Fir Park three years later.

Now The Scottish Sun say Kelly, likely to be named in Steve Clarke's Euro 2024 squad, has agreed to move back to the Light Blues as part of Philippe Clement's big summer rebuild. Kelly has been capped once for Scotland and was reportedly attracting the attention of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, who are also on the lookout for keepers, although Record Sport does not believe that to be the case. Rangers No. 1 Jack Butland could be the subject of summer bids this season with Jon McLaughlin looking likely to head for the Ibrox exit while Robby McCrorie is another who might want more game time if he doesn't get the gloves.

Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell admitted the out of contract keeper would likely spark admiring glances.. He said: "What wouldn't surprise me is a goalkeeper of his stature attracting interest.

"Liam would be someone I would love to keep at the club, but there's a number of factors that come into that. It could hopefully be a big summer for him potentially as well and we need to wait and see how that goes.
