Leicester City told to make 'difficult' goalkeeper decision as revealing stat emerges
Some Leicester City supporters are calling for Danny Ward to be given more opportunities to start instead of club captain Kasper Schmeichel next season after impressing against Watford last month.
The Wales international was a surprise starter at Vicarage Road when, despite going a goal down inside six minutes, City ran out 5-1 winners. A revealing statistic has since emerged that Ward, in what was a first Premier League appearance for the club, claimed the same number of crosses as Schmeichel had over his previous 15 matches combined.
In light of that, certain Foxes fans would want to see more of Ward in goal next season. Here is a selection of the social media reaction from our Leicester Facebook page about the two goalkeepers.
Highlights the biggest problem with Kasper. Good shot-stopper, but can't command his box. He has been a good goalkeeper for the club for over 10 years, but his time has come to an end. Time to sign a new goalkeeper.
Regardless of this myopic view, Kasper saves us more often than not and with a better defence (ooh look, like the previous two seasons), and Ndidi in the side, things are much better. Leicester legend, protect our best rather than petty nick picking.
Kasper has been incredible for club but we can't rest on sentiment. A difficult emotive decision needs making but the right one for the club and the player. He's 36 with a number of flaws which won't change and more importantly the opposition have now targeted... if he's number one for next season we going to struggle like this year.
I have great faith in Danny. If Kasper does move on, I would see Danny as the natural replacement. No need to buy in.
For me, it's not just his lack of command of his six-yard box, particularly
