Leicester City man gets surprise nod over Liverpool & Man City stars in 'dream' team

Legendary English manager Neil Warnock has caused a surprise by naming Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in his "dream" Premier League XI.

Warnock, who recently retired after a staggering 41 years in management, picked the City stopper ahead of the likes of Liverpool's Alisson and Man City's Ederson.

In fact, Warnock told our colleagues at the Mirror it was a close call between Schmeichel and Nick Pope, who has just been relegated with Burnley. Schmeichel has made 414 league appearances for City in 11 years at the club, with 276 of those coming in the Premier League.

"I like Kasper's confidence and his presence," Warnock said. "He's been very loyal to Leicester.

"I did think of Nick Pope but I thought I'd go for Schmeichel's experience. And I don't think he'd cost me much either."
