Leicester City to rival Real Madrid for transfer as Brendan Rodgers set for talks

Leicester City are ready to compete with Spanish giants Real Madrid for Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney in the summer, according to reports.

The full-back has been previously linked with a move to the King Power Stadium under Brendan Rodgers after the two worked together at Celtic.

Tierney has however become a key player for Arsenal in recent seasons with the defender playing the full 90 minutes of the Gunners’ 2-0 win over City on Sunday afternoon.

His performances has reportedly led to interest from Real Madrid with reports claiming that the Scotland international has impressed scouts sent by the Spanish giants.

They claim Rodgers remains a "huge fan" of the player and could look to compete with Real Madrid should there be any signs that a transfer could happen.

The player will have four years remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium when the summer transfer window opens after he signed a new five-year deal with the club last season.

Premier League chiefs are reportedly considering bringing back the five substitutes rule for the start of next season.

According to Sky Sports, the league are consulting with clubs over the change, which will see the number of substitutes per game rise from three to five.

It is a rule that has divided clubs over the past few seasons, with the increased number first coming in when football returned after the break due to the Covid pandemic.

However, the number of substitutes allowed again dropped to three at the start of last season.
