Leicester City 'considering' blockbuster £50m transfer as Arsenal put on red alert

James Maddison's future at Leicester City remains in doubt as fresh reports claim he could leave the club this summer.

The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move away from the King Power with Arsenal previously said to be interested. Though, ahead of the summer transfer window, there are no clear suitors for his signature.

Mikel Arteta opted to sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid on a permanent transfer last year, while the Gunners are reportedly in the running to land Philippe Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa.

It leaves no obvious destination for Maddison to play his football next season away from Leicester, yet reports claim the Foxes are 'considering' whether to cash in on the midfielder as they look to re-shape their squad. That's according to the Daily Mail, who suggest manager Brendan Rodgers wants at least three new additions for his side to take them to the next level.

Leicester have struggled this season to replicate their stunning form in previous seasons. They are on course finish the season in the top half of the Premier League and also enter the final rounds of the Europa Conference League this term.

Though, Leicester are somewhat in transition and Maddison could make way for new arrivals this summer given his big price tag. Reports claim they are giving 'serious consideration' to allowing £50million-rated Maddison to leave.

Maddison has enjoyed an impressive campaign having made 40 appearances so far and scored 13 goals. He hopes to be knocking on Gareth Southgate's door for a call-up to the England squad to fly out to Qatar this November for the 2022 World Cup.
