Leicester City targeting swap transfer to scupper Juventus bid for mega deal
Leicester City are eyeing up a deal to bring Torino defender Gleison Bremer by using one of their own players as part of a swap deal.
Bremer, 25, joined II Toro in 2018 from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro and has made over 100 appearances in Italy, attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, Brendan Rodgers' side are keen on the Brazilian defender and are set to go to battle with Chelsea, Inter and Juventus for his services.
The report from Italy also states that City will offer Dennis Praet as part of the deal. Praet, who joined City in 2019, has never kicked-on at the King Power Stadium since his switch from Sampdoria and has spent the season on loan at Olympic Grande Torino Stadium.
Reports in England [via SunSport] explain that officials of the FA Cup holders met with their Torino counterparts while in Italy for their UEFA Conference League semi-final defeat to AS Roma, in an attempt to construct a deal that suits both clubs.
Praet's preference on his future could determine the move coming to fruition. The Italian side are keen to secure the Belgian midfielder for a further campaign on loan, with them unable to afford the £12.85 million asking price.
The midfielder has featured 22 times for the Serie A outfit, scoring two goals and assisting two during his loan spell, after struggling to break into Brendan Rodgers' starting XI.
Thursday's defeat to Roma and Sunday's disappointing home loss to Everton, the Toffees' first Premier League away win since August, added further reasoning for the Foxes to add more quality in their backline, with 18 goals conceded from set-pieces this season.
After both games, Rodgers confessed the defending from set-pieces has become an Achilles heel
