Leicester City suffer fresh Jamie Vardy injury setback as Brendan Rodgers makes bold claim

Here are your Leicester City headlines on Wednesday, March 10.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is facing another spell on the sidelines after suffering a fresh injury blow.

Vardy only recently returned to action after more than two months out with a hamstring problem.

The 35-year-old striker scored on his return to seal a 2-0 win at Burnley last Tuesday.

However, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Vardy injured his knee during Saturday's 1-0 victory over Leeds United, and is set to be out for "a few weeks".

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of Thursday's Europa Conference League last 16 first leg tie against Rennes at the King Power Stadium, Rodgers said: "Vardy will be out. He got injured in the last game so will be out for the next few weeks.

“For us as coaches, managers and players it’s frustrating because he’s that level of player.

“It’s just unfortunate really. Hopefully he can get back and we’ll see how he is in the next few weeks

"He got a knock to the knee, hopefully (he will be back) in the next three to four weeks."

Portsmouth fans are in love with George Hirst.

The striker, on loan at Pompey from Leicester City, failed to score in his first 13 games after completing his temporary move to the south coast in the summer.

In a remarkable turnaround, Hirst has now netted 10 goals in his last 22 matches - with five of those coming in the last three.

Portsmouth fans were quick to slate him in the early months of the season, but he has now hit the ground running and they just can't get enough of the 23-year-old.

Here's what some Pompey supporters are saying on social media:

: Sign him up

: I love you

: In all seriousness, George Hirst has shown good character
