Leicester City latest news: Fresh claim emerges on Brendan Rodgers' future

Leicester City have to be ‘very cautious’ when it comes to deciding the future of under-pressure manager Brendan Rodgers, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Foxes have endured an underwhelming campaign so far, crashing out of the Carabao Cup, Europa League and FA Cup already while sitting in midtable in the Premier League.

Rodgers arrived at the King Power Stadium back in February 2019 following a highly successful two-and-a-half-year stint in charge of Scottish giants Celtic.

During his time in the Leicester dugout, the 49-year-old has largely continued to excel, guiding the club to a maiden FA Cup triumph, consecutive fifth-place finishes and to the Community Shield crown.

However, Leicester’s progress has stagnated this season, despite a busy summer transfer window that saw the likes of Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumare and Jannik Vestergaard bolster their ranks.

With 20 top-flight fixtures played, though, the Midlands outfit have collected just 26 points after losing more games than they’ve won, all but ending their hopes of qualifying for Europe once again.

And things went from bad to worse last time out when local rivals Nottingham Forest thrashed them 4-1 to kill their chances of retaining the FA Cup.

According to The Express, that result means Rodgers is now under ‘massive pressure’ yet Jones has urged some caution over the situation, stating the Northern Irish tactician is ‘one of the best coaches in European football’.
