Leeds 'looking at' addressing key position at Elland Road

Leeds desperately need to sign a striker before the window closes, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.

Jesse Marsch’s side have made a solid start to the Premier League season, but they’re lacking options through the middle.

Leeds have enjoyed a productive transfer window so far, with Marsch welcoming eight new faces to Elland Road, helped by the departures of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

But the Whites are still short in the up front, which could be a concern for the American in the forward areas.

Patrick Bamford’s injury problems came to the fore once again when he hobbled off against Southampton last weekend, leaving Marsch with youngster Joe Gelhardt and Rodrigo as his only central options.

Dan James was forced to play through the middle on numerous occasions to accommodate for Bamford’s absence last season, while Gelhardt started five Premier League games, highlighting their lack of options.

Therefore, Jacobs reckons they must go all out to bring a number nine to the club in the final two weeks of the window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Leeds need a striker, it’s as simple as that. Bamford is injured, but even when he’s fit he needs support.

“Leeds want a striker and there’s a few names that they’re currently looking at for sure.”

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Leeds are showing a ‘strong interest’ in Zurich striker Wilfried Gnonto.

The transfer guru claims that Marsch’s side could sign the young Italian frontman for just £4.25m, which shouldn’t prove much of an issue for Leeds, who have spent close to £100m this window.

The 18-year-old has already racked up 71 appearances in Swiss football, registering 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions.
