Lee Radford discusses Hull KR threats and happy memories at Rovers ahead of Challenge Cup quarter-final

Lee Radford has singled out Lachlan Coote as one of the major obstacles standing in the way of his Castleford side's attempts to reach the Challenge Cup semi-finals on a ground where Radford has made plenty of happy memories in the past.

As a boy, Radford stood on the Craven Park terraces before enjoying a successful playing and coaching career on the opposite side of the river with Hull FC, which included derby victories against Rovers along the way. Radford returns to east Hull on Friday as Castleford coach for the second time after a recent defeat there in Super League, but both teams have enjoyed an upturn in form since then.

However, as Castleford look to make it three successive wins, Radford believes the form of Coote could be crucial in determining Friday's game.

"They're obviously different now," Radford said. "Coote is a genuine threat out the back. That's meant with no disrespect to the last guy who played there (Will Dagger was the fullback the last time the sides met) but Coote adds so much.

"It's his kicking game and the percentages on his opportunities he takes in good ball. That's something we'll have to be all over, our defensive percentages will have to be high.

"We're chalk and cheese with the ball now though, we're playing and it's taken a while to get some blokes to buy in but they're seeing the benefits of that now."

Radford also admitted that despite almost certainly receiving a hostile reception from the Rovers supporters, he is relishing another trip to Craven Park.
