Leave your own personal tribute to Jay Slater with our interactive map

Tributes are being paid to Jay Slater after police teams searching for the missing teenager found a body in Tenerife yesterday (July 15).

The hunt to find missing Jay has dominated news cycles for a month - now the Manchester Evening News is encouraging the public to leave messages of condolence and support for the family. Our online book of tributes - below - can be filled in with all messages submitted mapped to determine where in the world they are being posted from.

Jay, 19, went missing on June 17 after travelling from a rave to the remote Airbnb in the mountains of Tenerife with two men. The teenager, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, had posted a Snapchat video of himself at the Casa Abuela Tina, near the village of Masca, shortly before making his last phone call to a pal before he disappeared.

The search for him was officially called off after almost two weeks of intense efforts. His last known location was half a mile north of Masca village.

Sadly four weeks since the 19 year-old was last heard from, Spanish police said human remains had been found in the Masca area of the island, where Jay's phone last pinged. The Civil Guard said 'everything is pointing to the body being that' of Jay and confirmed they believe he 'may have suffered an accident or fall in the area'. The body has not yet been formally identified.

A Civil Guard spokesman said no information was currently being released on exactly where the body was found. An autopsy is expected to take place in the next couple of days in the northern Tenerife city of La Laguna.

LBT Global is saddened to announce that a body found in Tenerife does look to be that of Jay
