Mourners attending Jay Slater's funeral asked to wear specific colour for touching reason

Mourners attending the funeral of teenager Jay Slater, who tragically fell to his death while on holiday in Tenerife, have been asked to wear a specific colour as a 'celebration' of his life.

Neighbours had tied blue ribbons to railings as a show of support when Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, first vanished on June 17, with his friends and family then released blue balloons into the air when his body was found a month later.

The 'celebration of life service' is to take place at Accrington Cemetery Chapel. Floral tributes will come from the family but “if anyone would like to bring a single rose to place with Jay, they are more than welcome”, his relatives said in a statement issued through LBT Global.

Jay, an apprentice bricklayer, was also remembered in a tribute from his family which outlined the major events and passions of his life.

They said: “A loving son of Debbie and Warren, a cherished brother of Zak and brother-in-law of Jessica, a
