Lazio push Celtic panic button as Sarri bins rest day for beleaguered flops being pushed to 'brink of injury'

Lazio look to be stumbling into their clash with Celtic next week as boss Maurizio Sarri gets tough on his under-performing stars.

A 1-1 draw with Monza at the weekend piled even more pressure on the experienced Italian, who's side started their campaign in Champions League Group E with a dramatic 1-1 draw at home to Atletico Madrid. Brendan Rodgers ' started out with a 2-0 loss to Feyenoord and their first home game of the six-match section comes next Wednesday versus Serie A opposition.

They have won one of their five opening league games with three defeats and a home clash with Torino and tough trip to the San Siro for battle against AC Milan await before meeting Celtic. According to Il Messaggero, Sarri has got tough on his underperforming stars and "cancelled the rest scheduled" for Monday with the focus being put on the tactical side of their plans against Torino.

It might be a risky strategy, as "several starters at risk for Wednesday evening." And it's also claimed the heavy schedule "have brought several players to the limit on a muscular level."

Those in the "worst shape" are defenders Patric and Alessio Romagnoli plus Mattia Zaccagni in attack. Sarri may also consider some further rotation with his scheudle getting tougher before easing up anytime soon.
